Test… Test… Is This Blog Still On?

gnome-small

I turned 40 today. We celebrated yesterday, just us Tops and a few friends. As we are all a bit tired, and I’m slightly nauseated because my eyes don’t match with my contact lenses (I guess they’re the ones having a mid-life crisis, changing half a dioptre back and forth in two months time), this was quite enough.

One of the presents was a lovely little second-hand pen-and-tablet thingy to draw with on the loads of pictures I’ve taken for just that purpose. This is my first try – I like working with the pen, it certainly beats using the mouse. I can’t see myself going all digital, but I like taking pictures and then enhancing the figures I see in them.

When my eyes are better (i.e. when I get the right contact lenses), I’ll do some of these drawings whenever I take a little pause from working on the novel.

  1. Happy birthday, Nicki!
Enjoy your tablet. There is one of those kicking round here that I have never felt comfortable using. Your drawing reminds me: in our old house we had these bathroom tiles and every time I went in there I mentally drew the lion and the Da vinci-like face that I saw in them. I tried to show the family but they didn’t really see what I saw. Before we moved I actually drew them on paper to remember them. I am sure you are always seeing things in other things too.

  2. weird business, those lenses… yes, sometimes it pours, although you’d think water’d help? stay calm, they’ll get used to one another, lense and eye. i speak from experience.
ànd i wear glasses over all that.
    oi.
    happy birthday.
unless i die, you’ll never beat me at being 50.
