Corner View: What's For Lunch

It's weird eyes day again. This photo accurately represents my vision at this moment. I'd like to call it: "Soup Conjunctivitis". (It's a good thing I made the soup yesterday, because today I probably would've burned it.)

Spring Fairy

Not sure what my maximum allowance for sentimental pictures is, but I couldn't resist this one. Top4 and her dandelions on Easter Monday...

Come to Mama

I'll fill your belly with some Easter left-overs...

As Usual

One of the many Warhammer drawings. The only difference: we've been teaching him a little bit about perspective. He's done his best on the tail of the monster on the left, that goes around the other creature.

Where Life Ends

Today I present to you a post without a picture.

This afternoon, when riding our bicycles home from school, Top4 and I (Top3 had gone ahead) spotted a male and female duck in the field.

The tall trees along the bicycle path cast their shadow over the green tufts of young barley, and it was as if the female duck was nesting on a tree branch, whilst the male duck was happily scurrying about in the very top of the tree shadow.

I wanted so badly to take a picture. It would have been a lovely shot. Artsy too. But I had not brought my camera with me. I usually do, but I had forgotten all about it, because I was very distracted.

At a shooting last night, a former neighbour of ours, a fine policeman and very gentle fellow, was killed. Although his name was not published until this evening, I felt through and through it must have been him.

This evening, after my yoga class, which calmed me down a bit, I spotted a male duck on the road to our little village. It was a different road, so it must have been a different duck. All the same, I felt so sad.

The male duck was dead.

Corner View: Home

We're going out of our way
to get there.
And when we succeed,
we find that home is
where our family and friends are.

(So does Monki, who is flying home
with Mother Goose, with a few
stop-overs in Wonderland.
In rhyme!)

A Spot of Work

(These were all brought in for repair. They're not Top1s handywork.)

A Decent Burial

That's the least they could do for this little dead mouse...

Corner View: Time

Today we spent some time at Ikea. We needed to claim an item with a special ticket. While we waited at the counter, the kids and I had a lively discussion about the portal Top3 imagined there must be around the corner.

At first I thought he meant a time portal, but in fact he meant a teleportal. Because there must be some magical way to get items from Sweden to our local Ikea store. No way was there an extremely large warehouse in the back. And no way was there a train of lorries hauling stuff from all over Europe, 24/7.

We were there, the desk clerk was there. He collected our ticket, went away for just a minute and came back with our item. Ergo, teleportal.

A Few Things

Lictor, a thingamabob as recreated from a picture in the Warhammer manual by Top3

Impromptu portrait of Top2, by newby photographer Top3

A new blog for Top2, with poems & other writings in Dutch. Comes with a link to Twitter. (Scary business, I say. Complete strangers following you, you following complete strangers...)

Butterfly Beauty

For "Alles is Anders-dag" (Topsy Turvy Day) at school, the petit mademoiselle ordered a butterfly costume. She handed me the detailed design drawings a week in advance, ransacked our huge supply of fabric, put the necessary tools on the table and kept me informed of her wishes whilst I slaved on her outfit. After she went to bed, I kept thinking: This damsel of ours is 100% steely determination covered by a thick layer of persuasive charm. She won't drown, as I have for many years. She'll be all right.

Pokemon Springtime

Pokemon is entering springtime as well. So Top3 would like to present to you: Beautifly, Caterpie, Venonat, Ivysaur and Spinarak!
